A shared territory

The BIO-PLATEAUX project is co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg Amazon Cooperation Program. It aims at developing the sharing of data, information and experiences on water and biodiversity in aquatic environments between French Guiana, Brazil and Suriname, particularly in the two transboundary basins of the Oiapoque and Maroni rivers.

COTTICA, 2nd edition of the French Guiana-Suriname cross-border dialogue platform to preserve the future of the Maroni River

COTTICA

On 6 and 7 November 2025, the Maripasoula Town Hall hosted the second edition of the COTTICA platform, a space for dialogue and joint work between France and Suriname dedicated to the shared management of water resources in the Maroni River Basin.

Sixty participants — elected officials, institutions, and technical stakeholders from Suriname and French Guiana — gathered to exchange with customary authorities and local populations on water management issues in the Upper Maroni.
