BIO-PLATEAUX
A shared territory
The BIO-PLATEAUX project is co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg Amazon Cooperation Program. It aims at developing the sharing of data, information and experiences on water and biodiversity in aquatic environments between French Guiana, Brazil and Suriname, particularly in the two transboundary basins of the Oiapoque and Maroni rivers.

BIO-PLATEAUX mission in Macapa: the State Secretariat for International Relations and Foreign Trade (SECRICOMEX) as new Brazilian focal point for the project

As part of phase 2 of the BIO-PLATEAUX project, a delegation from the Office de l'Eau de Guyane, the Guyanese focal point for the project, the sub-prefecture of Saint-Georges and the Office International de l'Eau, the project coordinator, met and exchanged views with Brazilian partners in Macapa (Amapa) between March 8 and 10.

The BIO-PLATEAUX initiative is listed as voluntary commitment of the Water Action Agenda, prepared in the framework of the UN 2023 Water Conference (22-24 Mar 2023, New York).

Many reports and maps showing the evolution of land cover, natural capital and ecosystem services in the Guyana Shield are now available.
