The Committee of Inquiry into the fight against illegal gold mining in French Guiana presents its conclusions

The Committee of Inquiry on the fight against illegal gold mining submitted its report in July 2021. It contains 44 priority proposals to contain the scourge of illegal gold mining in the short term and eradicate it in the long term.

Presided over by Mr. Lenaïck Adam and with Mr. Gabriel Serville as rapporteur, the Committee emphasizes the importance of strengthening cooperation with Brazil and Suriname and insists on preserving the health and respecting the way of life of the populations living near the clandestine sites, while encouraging sustainable economic development.
