Summary
The recent description of a distinctive new pimelodid catfish, Pimelabditus moli Parisi & Lundberg, 2009, from the Maroni River basin of Suriname and French Guiana, added an unresolved taxon to the family. P. moli is included in ongoing molecular and morphological phylogenetic studies of the Pimelodidae. Pimelabditus moli is a rare species, known from just five specimens.
